The Power of the Eclipse
The total solar eclipse on August 11, 1999, was experienced by some 100 million people in the zone of totality and by 1 billion (1000 million) people in the outlying zone. The sixth part of mankind witnessed the last eclipse before the year 2000. Did this eclipse change something? Will an eclipse ever change anything?
Let's have a look into the past history of darkening:
On the morning of June 5, 521 BC, a total solar eclipse took place over central Persia. The Persian king Darius, his intention obviously political, founded Persepolis and built it exactly on the 30th parallel. Like Giza in Egypt, it was planned to serve the sun religion. The pillars of the palace are placed so that the rays of the morning sun at solstice exactly strike and run along the row of pillars. The omen that this eclipse had for the people grew into a powerful movement under Darius. In its wake arose out of Persia a power whose influence spread throughout the eastern Mediterranean, finding expression in Homer's epic poem on the Trojan wars.
The prediction of the eclipse was not only used for political purposes, but also for decisions to make war:
"As the war was still unsettled after six years, this wonder took place: during the battle, suddenly day became night. Thales of Milet predicted this change of daylight to the Ionians." So wrote the ancient historian, Herodotus, about the solar eclipse that took place on May 28, 585 BC. The opposition fled in panic, while the Ionians were prepared for it.
Probably the oldest written report of an eclipse that altered the world comes from the Syrian city of Ugarit: "The day of the new moon Hiyyaru Sun-Goddess Raschp was ashamed at her doorkeeper" (to be ashamed it the old language means to be hidden) according to the script on clay tablet KTU.11.78, which describes the solar eclipse over Ugarit. These small clay tablets shook the chronology and historiography of the united West! The reverse calculations of this eclipse to May 9, 1012 BC, and an additional tablet with a report from Ugarit, after Amarna, allows not only the reign of Egyptian Pharaoh Akhenaton (Amenophis IV) to be redated from 1022-1006, but also redates all of the Egyptian dynasties.
An astronomer, therefore, delivered to the English historian David Rohl the key for synchronizing Egyptian and Jewish history. Archeological finds have endorsed this thesis.
The latest excavations at Avaris, in northern Egypt, by the Austrian archeologist, Prof. Manfred Bietak, shed new light on reports about Joseph and Moses from the Bible. Bietak found innumerable pumice stones strewn all over Avaris, a royal town near "Bar Yussef," as Joseph's channel is still called today. Avaris, whose palace was covered with bull and labrynth motifs, was suddenly deserted by its Canaanite population around 1500 BC, shortly before the Hyksos took power. The pumice stones of Avaris almost certainly fell from the volcanic eruption of Thiathera on the island of Santorini. It may be supposed that they could be the plague of hail stones that fell on Egypt after the flight of the Israelites.
Moses and flight from Egypt comes nearer to our historical reality with the proximity of another wonderful astronomical event: the great conjunction of the planets Jupiter and Saturn within the constellation of Aries in 1536 BC. This seems to have happened about the time of Pharaoh, when the first genocide of Jewish boys entered history because of the rise in Jewish population and a presumed threat to Egypt.
The next great conjunction within a spring constellation was the Star of Bethlehem in Pisces, 7 BC, which was repeated with the pearl necklace-like string of planets on May 5, 2000.
The golden calf, the bull cult, Moses with ram's horns, Jesus with his synonym ICHTHYS (Greek = fish), the murders of the children by which Pharaoh and Herod meant to protect their power, then a star that announces a new age and paradigm arises out of memory.
This shows how long-past eclipses and ancient astronomy still can shake up chronology and world views today. Astronomy allows for easy reverse calculations showing that the birth of Christ, in accordance with the Gregorian calendar, did not take place at the time of the Star of Bethlehem, but occurred six years before. Also, at the time of Christ's martyrdom in Palestine, there was no solar eclipse, as the evangelist seems to report. Is the whole New Testament a swindle, or is only the Gregorian calendar wrong?
The answer to this question will decide which calendar and which truth people will be oriented toward in the future.
The eclipse and the false or true reports of the past millennia shake the foundations of the Western Christian world view and reveal the truth. By the orbit of the sun truth is brought to the light!
The eclipse of August 11, 1999, went over Ugarit in Northern Syria, just as we find in the 3,000-year-old written report of the eclipse on clay tablets.
But the center line of this darkening, the final one before the year 2000, struck the Teufelstein (Lucifer's Rock) in Austria's Styrian province. Lucifer's Rock was used as a calendar in the stone age to observe the planet Venus, the morning star. The chiseled wall of Lucifer's Rock bears exactly that point on the horizon where Venus, as Lucifer, stands every 8 years in the red dawn before the morning sun rises. A medieval manuscript tells us who Lucifer actually is: With the sun (solis), Jupiter (iovis), Saturn, Mars, Mercury, Moon (luna), is Lucifer, the seventh of the ancient "naked eye" planets: Venus!
Lucifer's Rock once was a stone age calendar, and with its help, Venus was observed every 8 years, standing as morning star on that point of the horizon, to which the carved wall bears witness. The still-living legend tells of this use and of Lucifer.

Venus has a period of visibility of 260 days and is the evening star as well as the morning star. The period between its first appearance and its last vanishing in one of these functions corresponds with the human gestation period. This period of Venus is in harmony with the period that creates and saves the future of mankind : the pregnancy period of a woman, 9 months.
It is easy to understand that early man saw in this planet a heavenly clock. This clockwork of love and sexuality was revered with the names Venus, Aphrodite, Ishtar, Freya, and so on…
But some religions, who believe sexual love is a sin, made it to be a creation of Lucifer, the devil, because their dogma says the Messiah was born of a virgin, not through sexual love, but begotten by God himself. GRAPHIC HIER Venus, the goddess of sexuality, must be condemned by Christians in order to legitimate the divine origin of Jesus, who was born of a virgin. In Christian dogma, sexuality is condemned, because of the nonsexual begettal of Jesus. It is always the same story with these innocent virgins: Europa with the bull, Leda with the swan, Mary with the dove, and at last, in our time, babies come by the stork. (Maybe this is the reason German slang has it "vogeln", literally, "birding.")
Heaven sent this eclipse exactly over Lucifer's Rock, this ancient Venus calendar, with its still-hidden secrets.
Heaven's clock counts down 269 days from the eclipse of August 11, 1999, until May 5, 2000, the time it takes to bear a mature infant. Did Brother Sun and Sister Moon send a signal to Mother Earth to bear a new child in this world? A new age, perhaps?
"At the 144th day before the year 2000, at noon, a solar eclipse will take place over the Teufelstein (Devil's Rock). The sun will appear to be swallowed in the mouth of the Lion, the apocalyptic animal that Ioannis (John) describes in his revelation" could parallel the ancient descriptions of the heavenly occurrence of the eclipse of August 11, 1999.
A child fathered at the eclipse at Lucifer's Rock would have been born on the date of the pearl-necklace-like string of planets. Is there a more remarkable star a child could be born under?
The pearl necklace alignment corresponds to the ancient symposium of the gods in Olympia, where they once decided upon the fate of mankind. How would the gods decide now? Are there still gods? Is a view into this heavenly watch only a view into a crazy bygone history? Or is there a rosy future? Consider, and keep an eye on that clock! And consider the kind of heritage we have in this clock. Which part of this heritage is valuable, and which becomes a tiresome burden? Not only does the light reveal truth, but the darkness also contributes to demonstrating the reality of things that have lost their color because there was too much light. So eclipses are still decisive to a very high degree when one examines calendars, theories, and world views.
Karl Popper witnessed the 1919 eclipse in New Zealand shortly after having seen a horrible bloodbath during the communist rebellion in Vienna, Austria. At this time, Einstein's theory of relativity was examined, showing that light curves because of great gravity fields! We know the physical result, and now astronomers are using Einstein's law discover the ends of the universe, using gravity lenses.
When will philosophy at last be replaced by reality? Popper's critical rationalism should be applied not only to science, but also to politics and religions!
How long will religions cover this planet with their bloody trap in the name of God because their leaders tell them their belief is the truth? But people clearly say that to believe is not to know! A lot of experiments testing scientific theories took place during the Euro-Asian eclipse of August 11, 1999. Each one will lead to dismissal or proof of some theory (from theos, Greek for god) and will help to create a new world view. When will this happen with the religious world views? August 11, 1999, and the year 2000 would have been a good time for it! 100 million people in the zone of totality and 1 billion in the zone of partial eclipse witnessed the phenomenon.
Consider what an eclipse means, and the conclusions an attentive observer might have come to in earlier times in noticing the fact that the shadow of the eclipse always goes from the west to the east!
Consider why Galileo Galilei was banned, why Giordano Bruno was burned, and all the witches and pagans who lost their lives, and why, from thousands of Mayan paper writings, only the calendar of the Dresden Codex survived, by coincidence.
Consider, as Jeremiah Horrocks invites us, this young genius who was the first in the Christian world to observe a Venus passage. In fact, this also is a solar darkening, but the small disc of Venus, rather than the nearby moon, darkens the sun. Apparently he described with pleasure his friend William Crabtree's joy at viewing the same phenomena with him.
This is what Horrock's diary reports: ". . . then I saw a very pleasant
spectacle, because the aim of my wishes, an abnormally great and absolutely
round stain, has moved to the left part of the solar disc. Benefit to you, eyes,
who look into the farthest wrinkle of the Sun, and with the help of a tube dare
to see a stain on this eternal light . . . Consider, so I repeat, this extremely
remarkable event, which in my lifetime cannot be observed again. Planet Venus
left her hiding place and showed before the sun, simple and naked, its true
size, where its normal lovely form appeared as a dim darkness."
Jeremiah Horrocks had improved the calculations of Kepler and had figured out
and observed the Venus passage across the sun on December 4, 1639. This amateur
genius died suddenly, very young. This observation was probably made long
ago by Mayan astronomers, as their calendar allows this conclusion, but
presumably also was made in Europeor Africa. It is possible with the simplest
methods: a camera obscura, which is paraphrased in the religious symbols of the
Jewish Tefillim, the Islamic Kaaba, and Plato's parable of the cave - the cube!
Since ancient times, to find the reality of the cosmos, it seems, one must enter
the cube. Why is it that another name for the Christian devil is
"incubus"?
The devil feared by the Christian actually may be coming back, a devil painted by the Christians on a wall as a result of condemning ancient knowledge and the cults of aboriginal peoples, destroying pagan knowledge with the sword to accomplish the propagation of their own world view.
This world view's end was defined 2000 years ago in the Greek letters alpha and omega, the symbol of Jesus the Nazarene, or in Arabic, Nasrenian, which means fish. Following the age of Pisces, because of the precession of the Earth's axis, comes the spring equinox constellation of Aquarius. The star of Bethlehem from the beginning of the age of Pisces recurred in May 2000.
Ancient prophecies and predictions from those times become of special importance, because they are a measurement of history and the times of the fulfilling of the prophecies. So it was that the prophecies (Biliam and Micha) in the Jewish scriptures were explained by the religious leaders to king Herod after the Magi brought the message that shocked Jerusalem. They said that it was foretold that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem. How will the ancient prophetic writings be fulfilled that predict the end of the "Christian" age? "No one knows the hour and day" says the apocalyptic John. Knows Richard Noone the day in his book, "5/5/2000, the Ultimate Disaster"? His story about pole shifting by the influence of gravity at the pearl necklace of planets cannot stand under a firm scientific examination, but, in a literary and poetic meaning, another kind of gravity could be at work. "Gravitatio" is the Latin word for pregnancy, and the gravidity of Earth with a new age could be a psychoanalytical interpretation.
How will the medieval list of the popes be fulfilled, on which every
participant in a papal election casts a nervous look? These writings first were
published in 1595 under the title "Prophetia S. Malachiae Archiepiscopi, de
Summis Pontificibus" (Prophecy of Malachias about all the Popes), in a book
entitled "Lignum vitae" (Tree of Life), which contains a list of all
the popes until the end of time. Each pope has a special motto, and the last but
one motto says "De labore solis", or solar eclipse (from or of the
labor of the sun). It corresponds to the 265th pope, and that is John Paul II.
After him, according to the prophecy, there will be only one more pope, with the
motto "Gloria olivae" (glory of the olive tree).
"In persecutione extrema S.R.E sedebit" (Persecuted, the bishop
of Rome will settle in the most extreme distance) says the next sentence. After
that, the city of the seven hills (Rome) will be destroyed, and the horrible
judge will force his people to account, finishes the Malachias prophecy.
But not only this writing may complete the gallery of popes' portraits
filling up the Roman churches. In the line of portraits of the popes, there is
only room for one more following John Paul II, the "solar eclipse."
Will Christianity survive in the face of so many prophecies about the end in the
coming millenium? Or will the Christian leaders say this is all
misinterpretation and insist on their claim to be the one and only interpreter
of the "Holy Scriptures?" But who will believe them after the antics
surrounding Austrian cardinals, bishops, and priests like Groer, Krenn, Laun…
The church is paralytic, with open wounds, and Karel Wojtyla, afflicted with
Parkinson's Disease, weakening as time goes by, seems like other world leaders
at the end of their rule.
The fish starts to stink at the head, they say. The early Christians gave Jesus
the logo of the sacred lamb, a symbol of the past age of Aries. Now, the logo
Fishbone has become the symbol of trendsetters and the youth cult. From ICHTHYS,
the fish are left only the bones!
The age of the fishers of men is over; secularization, the run of the
centuries has corroded the church. Maybe people will say that when the age of
the fish is over, in Fishbach (river of fish), at Lucifer's Rock, a new age will
begin with a special day, the day after the last day: Doomsday. El Nino (Spanish
- the "Christ child") has changed its meaning in that it brings
disaster to some folks.
May the meaning of Lucifer the devil also change and again become Venus the
Goddess of Love.
At Lucifer's Rock, there should have been a decision to examine religions to see if they make sense, because a child begotten at the eclipse would have been born at the pearl string of planets in May 2000, the recurrence of the Star of Bethlehem in Pisces, the announcement in Pharaoh's time in the constellation Aries.
If it makes sense, it means a new paradigm rules, because who would want to kill a newborn child because of religion?
Will the massacre of children be repeated? Or is it behind us, with Hitler's Holocaust, the Korean war, Vietnam war, Gulf war, and wars in Albania, Serbia, Angola, and other places? Will people seek a new rule, saying, "Take care of our children, the future of mankind??" The hour of the birth of the New Age and the children of the future chimed in at the eclipse at Lucifer's Rock.

"This is how I imagine the end of the world," a woman standing right next to me said, while watching the last eclipse of the sun. I myself have to admit that this mixture of spectacular natural phenomenon and its mystic influence on people's behavior is something I have become addicted to. The next chance to see a total eclipse of the sun in Austria will be in the year 2081! (Michael Karrer)
